Looking for some thoughts on either of these knives, same price and all. My mind just keeps telling me to get a SOG Knife, so I figure I'll start with a cheaper one, see how i like it first. So, how bout these 2?

I have the SOG 2000 full size and am thinking about getting the full size Tsunami. The 2000 is a good knife although I haven't really put it to hard use. One or two camping trips is all....held up well. I really like the look of the Tsunami although I haven't handled one yet. I really don't care for the look of the Mini Tsunami though.

I like the Tsunami pup as a practical self-defense knife more than the larger Tsunami, which just felt a little unweildy to me (but it sure looks cool!). In fact I would have bought a mini-Tsunami last week as my cloak-and-dagger knife, except I stumbled across a great deal on an old Nealy Aikuchi so that trumped the SOG.

The Seal pup has a cool sheath, but felt a little dorky in my hand, and I don't care for its looks. But YMMV; I always advocate holding a knife before you buy it, because I have often found that what looks cool (to me) turns out to feel graceless in my particular hand, and then the money's been wasted. Alas.

The SOG steel's not the best on the market, but for defensive skulking and slashing it should perform well enough. Like Rhyno, my SOG Seal 2000 has seen a little camp use & has held up well. That's a pretty good knife, IMHO . . . although I'd like to eventually sell mine and put the proceeds towards a Basic #9 . . .

Thanks for the feedback guys. The interest I have in one of these is for self defeense and was also looking to get an SOG Knife to see what they're like for myself.
the seal 2000 or the pup - is the tip durable enough, or will it bend with slight prying?

I've been using the seal pup for backpacking trips and misc uses in and around the house for about two years now. Definitely not a chopper (too small and light), and I wouldn't try to pry anything with it. HOWEVER, it is an excellent knife for general cutting/slicing, hold's an edege relatively well (especially for 440A), very rust resistant, and is relatively cheap. I use this knife the most next to my Wave and SAK.
