Ive been thinking about buying the SOG Tomcat with the cocobolo wood handle. I played with it a bit before X-Mas and it seems to be pretty nice, very thick blade and strong lock-up. It has a 3 1/2 440A stainless (RC57-58) clip point.

Any experience or thoughts on these? I was going to pick it up today but thought Id ask all my friends here first before I made a bad choice!

I don't have a Tomcat but I own two different sized Sidewinders. They have the same construction with a droppoint (?) blade.
They don't come any stronger or sharper. Personally, I find them a bit heavy for carry and have more user friendly knives. The large one has a very small "wiggle" in the blade....the lock notch and the locking bar seem to be mismatched. Ever so slight, but I don't like it. But I don't think it will ever let go.
The Tomcat and Sidewinders are fine knives if you don't mind the weight, the thick blade and the sub-par blade steel. ( I bought mine before I was "educated"

Big and clunky for my taste but one helluva knife. Pretty too! Got two back in January and they have yet to move.

I am going to liquidate a ton of inventory after the first of the year and have two of them to move. Both are NIB. If you want one, $89 and it's yours. Free Shipping!
