I received my SOG Access Card last week. I'm a nut for special purpose knives like this one, the KISS from CRKT or the Spydercard. In this instance, it was the money clip feature of the knife which encouraged me to buy a Access Card and one of the tanto design gold KISS money clip/knife.

The SOG arrived first and I was a little surprised at its size and weight. The blade is about 2 3/4" with a solid 2 1/2" cutting surface and is marked 'stainless steel.' However, it is very sharp and is surprisingly versatile. As a matter of fact, I ended up whittling with the knife and it worked better than my Case Warncliffe Whittler. It can carve thick or thin without trouble and was still sharp after about 15 minutes of heavy carving.

I thought, at first, that the SOG would be too heavy and cumbersome to use as a money clip, but I was wrong. It rides in the pocket perfectly and isn't noticeable at all. When the KISS money clip/tanto knife arrived (cutting surface just slightly more than 2 1/2", when the total tip surface is measured) I tried it out in the pocket right away. It was okay as a money clip but didn't 'disappear' in the pocket as the SOG did. The KISS, though, has an aus6 blade and is microtome sharp--I didn't try whittling with it...a tanto and all...

I'm sure the Arc-loc is a fine safety feature but it makes flicking open the blade a matter of timing (I have a sore thumb from practicing) but actually, when it comes to using the knife, I like the sound of the lock clicking into place...it's solid...and I do it using the spyder type cut-out in the knife blade.

All in all, I like the SOG very, very much. I think the KISS is nice looking but I will use it as a keychain knife and not a money clip. I think the SOG Access would be a perfect Christmas or Birthday gift and at between $25.00 to $30.00 (look around...I got mine on Ebay for $24.65 including shipping!) it can't be beat!
