SOG Aegis problems

I just got a new SOG Aegis off of Amazon, regular blade style with the digicam handle, and I HATE it. It's kicking my butt, the blade is so difficult to open. I mean, once the assist engages it comes out FAST, but getting out there is easily 16-18 lbs of pressure on the thumb stud, which really hurts my thumb bad. Then, when I do get it out there, the blade flies open so fast and hard, that the knife jumps out of my hand probably 1 in 5 times. I've had the knife 4 hours maybe and not even used it's cutting edge, except on my own flesh.

I don't know whether to loosen (to get it to open with less pressure) or tighten (so it swings out slower) it, and I don't have the Torx tip to do the job anyway. I'll take your advice, but frankly, I would rather be rid of it right now, maybe swap for a Cold Steel Recon, a Mini AK-47 or a Spyderco Delica with the Emerson opener.

P.S. I'm willing to buy a Torx set if a fix can be easily done
P.P.S. And yes, I did try out the blade in a store, it was fine, no problems, but the price was astronomical, so I went online.

Sounds odd, and annoying.
It should release quite easily.
I'd try loosening the pivot to start, but something else may be binding. Some lubrication might help.
Worse case you could send it to SOG to fix or replace.

If it was a "Ships from and sold by Amazon", you could call or email them and tell them its defective...which it may be. They should provide you with a pre-paid return label and send you a replacement.

The Husky 8-in-1 is a decent Torx set. Only $6-$8. You can find it at Home Depot or Lowes (under their Kobalt brand). Probably other places. Don't buy it on Amazon, the ones they have listed right now are way to high.
There are other inexpensive sets, but the Husky is about the best value I've found.
If you're going to mess with folders, you really need a Torx set anyway.
If you want to go for a better quality set, Wiha is about the best and you can find some moderately priced sets, even on Amazon.

Try changing the angle that you push. It will literally make a massive difference, think of continuing the circle that the thumbstud wants to go on. you could try messing with the detent
