Hey everyone,
I was walking pass the SOG booth at bladeshow and looked over and saw this in the case. I honestly have never been a huge fan of SOG except for their tomahawk but with this new collaboration with Jason I may be changing my view on them. I hadn't seen anyone else talking about the new SS (silent soldier) coming out under the SOG name. Opinions? what other models will they make? Maybe the silent soldier flipper?!?!? Also does anyone know how 9cr13mov performs, I have 0 experience with it. Anyways... here is a video that i had filmed of it.

Personally I think this is a much needed infusion of new blood that SOG has needed for a long time. Instead of making shoddy knives they will step up to the plate and start making some real winners. If they come out with a reasonably priced I.E 100-120 dollar version of the Silent Soldier Flipper I would be up for giving it a whirl.

The standard silent soldier has never really appealed to me, I think it looks great but I just dont see the application that a HAK or la Griffe wouldn't do much better.

With that steel and origin of manufacture it better be @ or under the $30 price point.

I think they had said it was like $60 msrp and sog knives normally sell for half msrp so it could be for like $30... which would be a score tbh...

Wasn't this the guy that was almost laughed off the forums? I hope not, but I recall he was going to be working for SOG marketing some of his designs.

The Silent Soldier looks good, and I like the sheath, too. If it's in the $30 range, it'll be a hit. The "Triple Threat" is a joke, but it'll probably sell well anyway. Jason Brous is kinda interesting to me in that he makes some very well designed and innovative blades, (like the SS,) and then turns around right after and designs something like the TT.

Yep. Pretty much. There were "questions" about his heat treat (or lack of). And many think that his knife designs look incapable of cutting things and are merely an exercise in grinding.

That said....people seem to like his stuff, and more power to him.

I hope his relationship with SOG works out. I want SOG to succeed and I would like Jason to succeed. I was a fan of SOG knives and bought a broad assortment of their knives beginning about the time I joined this forum. SOG lost its luster with me when they came out with their copies of the Spydie hole and blade shape. I didn't even visit their booth at the Blade Show this year other than in passing with a few glances at their knives. In the past, I was excited to visit their booth and bought several knives from them there. My Mini-Vulcan and Seal Pup Elite came from past Blade shows. I think both of those are excellent knives although I would prefer a better handle on the Seal Pup Elite which of course would make it cost more.

Yup! His designs still make me laugh. Everything should have been clear as day when he wanted to run with the name Kut Throat Blades or some such nonsense. lol
