Has anyone seen an arc lock yet? Is it similar to the axis or rolling lock?

Hi Dennis,

Several of the ArcLock knives have just begun shipping (last week), so it is unlikely that the general public at large has had the chance to handle/test them. But that will soon change.

You can check out the BladeForum announcement post about the ArcLocks in the SOG Forum at: www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum55/HTML/000056.html

Our testing shows them very secure and easy to use. (I'll reserve the "sales pitch" for the SOG Forum.)

Well, guys.. Dennis has ordered one, and a few other items. Thanks Dennis ! Anyway, I have handled the new Night Vision and it is a sweety ! I always liked the original vision, but thought that the linerlock didn't do it justice. The ARC Lock Does ! this is one heck of a smooth knife, it is virtually dead quiet action. The ARC lock is similar to the axis lock in function, and axis lock fans will feel right at home with its operation. the blades I have seen are nearly flawless, and I only say nearly because nothing is truely flawless.

This one puts SOG into the Benchmade Ballpark !! HomeRun SOG !

I cant stand it! The wait is killing me. If I were off this weekend I would drive to Cookeville and pick it up.

And it's going to ship in a 5" flavor.

The PE2 5" "daggeroid folder" with the Sog ARCLock won't be enough to make me retire my Sifu but it should be a nice backup piece worth owning. A PE3 6" variant would put a MAJOR hurt on the Vaquero Grande's sales

.

I still have some concerns about how much metal is around the pivot, and I look forward to a more detailed review. But other then a major foulup in that area which I don't consider likely, the PE2 looks to be a winner.

Dennis - I've played with some of SOG's folders with the Arc Lock. It's very similar to the Axis Lock. Only difference is the Axis mechanism moves horizontally and SOG's moves in an arc (thus the moniker

) The Arc Lock is very smooth and easy to manipulate. Its great to see another manufacturer thinking outside of the liner lock box.

I handled a SOG vision (liner lock) at a knife store in Baltimore. I was looking at the Spyderco Lum and the salesman suggested the SOG as an alternative. The only SOG I own is a powerlock. The vision felt very good in the hand. I really liked it. Fit and finish were superb. Not to mention it looked great. I would have bought it had the store not cherged full retail for everything in the store

. I am also trying to move away from liner locks. There are so many companies coming out with great alternatives to liner locks these days. I am really excited about the vision with this new lock. Hopefully I wont be disappointed. I recently was very excited about another knife (read Gerber Legend)and came away a little disappointed.

I would like to see some test results and numbers on the strength of this lock.

I wonder why the Arc lock isnt getting as much hype as some of the other locks on the market? SOG makes good knives, but they seem to be under rated (at least in the internet community).
