Hey guys,

I've been looking at the SOG Arcitech and the looks of it is growing on me. I going to keep this in my collection and not use it.

Some great pics of the Jigged bone vs the Carbon fibre version here: SOG Arcitech

Anyone has an Arcitech? Also which one would look nicer? The one with jigged bone or Carbon Fibre? I'm leaning towards the jigged bone version but most people seem to get the plain-looking CF version. Why?

I'd absolutely have to be in love with the knife to pay 450 for a production.
This one wouldn't do it for me, personally, but you maybe so.

For the price of a Sebenza, I would go with the Sebenza, Strider, or even Custom.

Halve that price and maybe we could see.

Not saying its a bad knife... but SOG doesnt have nearly the rep that some companies do to be charging that much for production models.

Eh, I had the SOG Arcitech on pre order well before it ever hit the streets. I have the red jigged bone version and paid roughly $260 for it. I don't carry it or use it like I do most of my knives, but I'm still glad I got it. It really is a beautiful piece made out of some great high end materials. It's action is smooth as silk, and I've never had any problems with any of my arc-lock knives from SOG. SOG knives aren't my first choice by a long shot, but I really locked onto this design when I first saw it about three and a half years ago or whatever it was. At the time, I said "man, I gotta have one of those!!", and this much later, I'm still satisfied with my purchase. Sure, I've got knives I use more, or like more, but for me the point is to have some samplings from many different makers and manufacturers.

Bottom line, if you look at the Arcitech and think it's something you've got to have, go ahead and grab one. You probably won't be disappointed.

jonnymac44, that really helped, thanks! I share the same opinions as you! Great looking piece from SOG but ditto about the price...

To the rest: Well I guess to each his own. We are all looking at the MSRP price. However we'll wait and see on the prices. Bet you I can get a bargain for one. :D

Just keep your eyes open, nutz. Check the bay often and use google from time to time and one will come along at the right price:thumbup:

Good luck,
Jonny

I've got a jigged Arcitech I carry sometimes, only good things to say about it. The blade came damn sharp and a beautiful recurve shape. Laminated VG-10 like Fallkniven, made in Japan, axis lock deploy absolutely fires out and closes easily witha flip, perfectly designed thumb ramp with jimping. Abalone thumb stud. Nice offering from SOG-- looking forward to more from their deluxe line.
one thing, I'm not crazy about the finish on the bone, I sanded mine down to make it a litlle more porous like micarta and soften the lines a little.

jonny, I will! :p Thanks for all the advice!

russ, Wow that is a great mini-review! Seems like SOG learned a thing or two from the other knife companies right! (Except the price that is :D) Hmm so you customised your Arcitech eh! Is it a user? It's a shame that the jigged bone version isn't serial numbered... :grumpy:

I agree with the previous reviews of the knife. It is a great gentleman carry. The highly polished blade looks beautiful. The ergonomics are very well done. I own a variety of knives from different manufacturers, but I have to say that the arcitech is one of my favorites for EDC. Sure a griptillian can perform the same tasks for 1/3 the price, but we're not buying knives for pure cutting performance here are we?
