Hey guys.
Picked up a SOG Blink as a money clip/edc/box opener. Arrived today... I really like the design, but the thing is a BITCH to open! Been playing with it a bit to see if I can get it to break in a little or something and my thumb is friggin killing me. You REALLY gotta jam your thumb nail into it just to get it to friggin move.
I already played around with the pivot screw and the thing isn't even finger tight, so that can't be it.
I removed the blade & polished up all the contact points a little so that's not it either.
Even oiled it up a touch so it's not cuz it's dry. It's just a whore to open.
The other bummer is it has a very slight amount of play, not only side to side (which is to be expected), but also up & down. JUST a touch though.
I just watched a video on Youtube of a blink owner opening it up by just pressing down on the lock back... mine doesn't even come CLOSE to opening that easily. In fact you have to open it up a good 20 degrees or so before the spring takes over and flicks it open.
So you guys have any suggestions? Bend the spring on the lock back a little bit to reduce the tension? Open it up and polish the lock back? Hell, I may even wanna sand it down a touch cuz there's just NO WAY it's going to deploy unless I really
Another thing I noticed is that the blade itself is hitting the spring for the lock back. I touched up the blade ever so slightly, got it as good as I could get it and after playing with it for a bit noticed a small burr... so I touched it up again, cleaned it up, played with it some more and once again, noticed a burr... Looked inside and saw a small spot on the spring... gotta be hitting it.
