I just purchased a SOG Blink and it seems to be a little hard to open one handed with the thumb stud. Will loosening the pivot point make it easier to open? Also, what size is the TORX screw?

Thanks for your help.

I'd just let it wear in a bit. Mine was like that at first, but now it opens fine. I don't know if was more me getting the knack of doing it, as its a little cramped, or if it loosened up some. maybe both. you might also use a tiny bit of a light high grade oil if you havent already. its a great little knife. good choice. I haven't tried what you suggest, but I'd give it some time before I tried that.

I also would say give it some time to get broke in and for you to get used to it. The blink is a small and thin knife. One time while unlocking it the knife wtisted around and sliced me pretty good so be careful then unlocking the knife. John

Thanks for help guys. I think it did need to break in a little, as well as for me to learn the correct motion on the thumb stud. Now it snaps open 99% of the time, it's addicting. For me it's the perfect EDC knife, although I am tempted in getting a Twitch II now too. I wanted an auto like the Protech Runt, but I think the Blink is probably just as fast in opening, and a lot less scary looking to the sheeple.

I have one. Play around with it a bit. It is almost too small for me. I am also thinking of getting something just a bit larger like the Twitch II or XL. The Blink fits in the watch pocket pretty nicely in most jeans. So, it gets carried.

Added: Make sure the lock is totally pushed back so it is not engaged also. Seems to slow up the knife it is slide slightly toward the lock position.

Try pushing the thumb stud towards the front of the knife instead of out to the side. This seemed to be the trick with mine.

I recieved one for xmas, and have sliced my thumb about 6 times when the blade wouldn't open fully. I've cleaned and oiled with no success. I opened my Kershaw Scallion with the thumbstud, and it effortlessly opens to the lock every time. I can hear some grinding it seems between the blade and the frame. I'm a little disappointed to be honest.

hey,

like the Twitch II or XL.

I own the Twitch XL [blk.] ,and its a lovely knive.

I carry all my knives in my back pocket and the XL is the best of them all.

It's quite flat and has a lovely "low carry" clip. People will mistake it for a pen/pencil.

Got one a couple months ago...great little knife, and I agree strongly w/the comments, i.e.,

1) let it break in,
2) push the thumbstud toward the front,
3) expect to get cut (probably right after your wife says "Stop playing with that thing, you'll cut yourself.")

Elson...I would never make a deep, but so clean I barely noticed it, slice in my thumb while playing with the SOG Blink I just got in the mail...and then bleed all over the place...not me!
