Let me start off by saying that I have always been a fan of the SOG Bowie knives. Just for the historical value that they represent. Aside from that I find their blade shape extremely useful for fighting and all types of cutting tasks. It's just a win win design overall. I am about to pull the trigger on a SOG Bowie but I can't seem to make up my mind on which version to choose. I am torn between all three versions.

I like the Bowie 2.0 for its historical value as being the most accurate representation of the original MACV SOG Bowie knife used in the Vietnam war.

However I strongly believe that the Tech Bowie is the most useful out of all of them. The kraton handles provide superior grip and will not get damaged if it comes into contact with water like the stacked leather handles will.

I find the Trident Bowie the most visually appealing out of all of them. The satin stainless steel finish looks incredible along with the Micarta handle. Compared to the stacked leather handle, how well does Micarta perform in the wet?

Keep in mind that this will be my go to knife that I will use when hiking and camping. So what do you guys think?

This is just MHO, I find the Micarta a little slippery with a smooth finish. I've got all the knives you've mentioned because like you I like them that much. Throw in the SOG Recon bowie also. I find I really like the Techs for user knives. OBTW, the Tech Bowie is presently in the AAFES, (PX/BX), system for service personal to purchase.

The Trident is nice, i fluked into one used on ebay! However for a user the Tech Bowies kraton handle will work better than the Tridents smooth micarta.

This really depends on what you will be doing with the knife. Hiking and camping is sort of vague. When I hear those words I think of a hard use woods knife. I wouldn't say any of the knives listed are hard use wood knives. Sure they could work but I consider all of them more tactical utility knives. And to be clear, I have nothing against these blades. I own a lot of SOG fixed blades. Some older Seki and some newer ones. The only one I actually own in your list is the Tech Bowie. It is a fantastic knife but I wouldn't want to baton with it, which is what I think of when talking about a hard use woods knife (camping & hiking). Other things to consider are sheath options. I prefer kydex or plastic. The Tech comes with a fantastic kydex sheath. I also prefer non-leather handles. The Tech has very comfortable handles. I would worry about the leather handle on a hard use woods blade. The SOG I would recommend for a hard use woods knife is the SOG Force. It has a very strong tip which can withstand much more abuse. I have had one but I never used it because I have other blades in that size which I liked better. It does have the same handle as the Seal Team which I have and find very effective.

So let us know what you intend to do with this camping and hiking blade and we can better help you out.

If limited to those three I'd say the Tech Bowie since the objective is a "user" knife.
