So I'm watching Terminator 2 and I see that "sarah connor" is using a S1 to carve "No fate but what we make" into a table right before they try to kill dyson to stop the end of the world blah blah blah.

My question is how long have they been "remaking" the S1? What changes have they made from then to now?

Do you mean how long has SOG Knives been offering their version of the original military-issue knives used in Vietnam?

About 20 years or so. So sez A.G. Russell who contributed to the original "remade" design.

The "Vietnam S1" remade version is the first model SOG Knives ever offered.

Here comes the shocker. The "Vietnam S1" made today by SOG Knives is made to higher quality standards than the original military-issue knives. The blade grinds are cleaner, sharper, the overall fit and finish is better, too. Even the sheaths are better made.

Compare the SOG S1 currently sold through A.G. Russell with the genuine Vietnam originals and you'll see what I mean.

I just picked up one of the Vietnam commeratives at a gun show today. I've always been fascinated with the Vietnam era knives especially the SOGs and Randalls. What a nicely made knife. I love the blued steel guard and pommel.:D
