Okay pro's help me out here. I'm looking to buy my wife one for her backpack. I want one with the scissors and they both appear to have the same options. Do they both have the same quality or does one outshine the other? I have seen the sog in person however I can't find the s4 to compare it with. What's your opinion? Thanks for your help!

Although I have examined one, I not really familiar with the SOG. My experience is with the Squirt S4. It has somewhat easier access to the blade and other inplements and a somewhat more finger friendly shape with fewer angular or sharp edges.

Actually, if you are considering the S4, check out the Leatherman Micra. It is equally well made and offers everything the S4 has, with longer screwdrivers, a plus. The tweezers are not as good, but still useable and permanently attached, one less small thing to lose. Another advantage: in my part of the world, Micras sell for @ half the price of S4s. I have and use both, but if I had to choose just one, would prefer the Micra.

BTW, I am not a pro, at least on this subject, just an enthusiastic amateur. :)

I have the Sog powerlock and it is a TANK. I threw it in the air about 20 feet to test it's durability...landed on concrete, a few scratches and a handle cover flew off and snapped right back on...the squirt feels very delicate, like if one squeezed hard enough it could shatter...If the rest of the SOG line is similar, which i suspect it is, I would go with the cross cut no problem.
