How good is SOG's customer service? I have an SOG Toolclip that I puchased in about 1989 or 1990 that stayed in my go bag for years while on reserve status. During the Haiti earthquake relief mission the clip snagged and bent while I was climbing on an aircraft loader. I considered just cutting off the clip and using it that way. Will they honor the warranty on something this old or am I better off just cutting off the clip?

Im not sure on that one, but I think SOGs warranty is life time on a SOG pocket clip. I turned my Visionary 2 in because I was opening slowly and all of the top T6 screw had to be loose. They sent my knife back and to my eyes didn't fix anything. I told them and they had me send it back in. It took two times for them to fix the knife. It opens buttery smooth now! They also threw in a Team SOG hat (I think because they screwed up the first time). You are best off by emailing their warranty department, warranty@sogknives.com . They are very nice!

In 2002, I was TDY for an exercise and four of us went out to retrieve 13 rolls of concertina wire. The first 12 were fine, the last one was uncooperative, so I used my PowerPlier to cut it. It worked, but the jaws bent. I called SOG, asked if that constituted abuse. They apologized for the problem and said to send it back. It took about a month, but they returned it with new jaws, no questions asked.

I dont know about service on the clip, but I just recieved one of their new tsunami's. Instead of coming with the correct size sheath, it came with a smaller sheath, most likely the nylon one for either the field pup or the seal pup. I emailed customer service, and they're sending me the correct size free of charge. Excellent service in my opinion!
