Hi Folks,
I EDC a SOG Flash II Plain Edge most days and have a love/hate relationship with it. I hate the ridiculous and uncorrectable vertical and horizontal blade play, as well as the way the pocket clip is so easily bent. What I love about it are it's light weight, blade length, flat grind, ease of sharpening, low riding clip, and good sized handle for my hands. Also, costing less than 50$US, It wouldn't upset me horribly to lose it.
Now for my question: Does the Flash II with the aluminum handle offer any advantages in terms of blade play, or keeping the clip from bending and swiveling or any other advantages that you can think of? I fully realize the downsides of price increase, weight increase, and being only available in partially serrated (which I would hope to fix by swapping out a plain edge from my other flash II). Before I buy one and try to swap out the blade to a plain edge, I'd like to know if any of you are happier with the aluminum handle version than you were with the Zytel version.
Thanks in advance.
