SOG Flash II vs. Kershaw Bump?

Hi, new here and lookin for an AO folder. For those that have owned or handled both a Flash II (the aluminum version with graphite scales) and a Bump (spec or speed, I know spec uses the better steel), which you prefer and why. Comfort? Fit and finish? AO mechanism comparison? Lock? Thanks!

Don't know much about the SOG, but the Blue/Green Bump is really an incredible knife. My favorite titanium framelock (sebenza included).

I prefer the curves of the Spec Bump to the SOG. I also like the handle-to-blade ratio that Kershaws seem to have. I hate having a lot more perceived handle than blade. Here are some pics of my EODC Spec Bump in my hands. Get one, and you'll love it!!!

Notice the lack of arm hair?;) I love showing off my sharp knives!

I dont know who would possibly have both. I have a Flash ll and AUS8A is better than Bump 440A. SOG's locking mechanism is better than Kershaw's.

You are recently new here so ill cut you some slack and clue you in. You seem to be exceedingly negative. You also seem to try and go against the grain whenever possible. It wont make you freinds. not a personal attack just trying to share an observation.

As too the origional question. The kershaw line spanks the hell outa the sog.:D

The Spec Bump has S30V....
And G10
and a studlock...

I like the SOG too, but it's definitely not objectively superior. But subjectively, it could win out if you find it especially attactive or comfortable. Good knife.

There is no BUMP in 440A, you are wrong. And by the way Spec BUMPS have 3D G10 handles... what are Flash handle made of ?...... :foot:

I have both , a SOG Flash II with the solid aluminum handle and a Spec/Speed bump with the Scandvik blade / G10.

They are both different and have their pros and cons, the SOG is a little less obtrusive in the pocket and feels more compact. The A/O works well, the safety is nice but a pain to switch on or off, the lock is secure. The pocket clip allows for low pocket carry and can be switched right or left but only the butt end.

Fit and finish is excellent and I'm pleased with it , the average price for one in this configuration is about $80.00.

The Spec/Speed bump is a real bargain at about $60 - 65 it is a limited run in this configuration. It is just a tad heavier and a little bulkier in the pocket but has a blade suited for more uses. The clip can not be moved and is tip down only. The flipper makes it easy to deploy, my knife is a little sluggish as compared to the SOG. The stud lock works well and while some hate it I'm OK with it.

I hopes this helps

Good post JPD1998. Sog could learn something from your post. Instead of just making vague, but negative remarks about Kershaws, Sog could elaborate on why he clearly had a bad experience with them.

JPD1998's pics will help unknownroad decide. I clearly prefer the ergonomics and blade shape/steel of the Spec bump, but the decision is unknownroad's.

but I'm a lefty and will no longer buy knives without ambi clips. For this southpaw the answer is SOG. Kershaw makes a good knife, though. My wife has a Blackout and a Chive. I can't fault Kershaw on quality but their right-hand-only knives are useless to me. YMMV

i don't really see how the 2 knives are similar
to me the kershaw recurved blade is a very big part of it's allure
coupled with the handle, it's all very sexy
whereas the flash just looks cookie cutter plain
