Did a search but found no definitive answer.

From what I can see, the Flash assists through use of a piston against a cam on the actual blade (correct me if I'm wrong). As it is a piston I am assuming that it has a coil spring or something similar to push it. Does this make it less susceptible to fatigue than for example a Speedsafe Torsion Bar?

I have large hands and have had trouble opening my Flash 1 with my thumb-I've had better results using the stud on the underside with my index finger (I'm a righty). Does anybody else use this method, or could someone give me some tips on other methods of opening.

I spotted in another post that it would still lock open even if the spring broke. How does this work? It appeared to me that the spring assist is also the locking mechanism.

Also, is there a diagram of the mechanism anywhere, or is this a trade secret? I'd love to see EXACTLY how it works.

I've had it 3 hours and I love it-firm lock-up (nice lock btw) and no blade play like others have mentioned with theirs (may come with time though?)
