SOG Flash

tomahawk, Welcome to Bladeforums, the Flash has been tested by many of the SOG fans, including me :D . It is one of my favorite knives in the SOG line. There are several reviews on this knife here and other places on the forums. Many people carry them every day, (me included) and seem to really like them. I think they are one of the sharpest out of box, and easiest to keep sharp of all. I have the camo plain edge AUS 8 steel and really like it. Hope this helps.

As Robbie said a real solid knife. I have a zytel Flesh II. Doesn't seem to as big as it really is. Very comfortable carry for a 3 1/2" knife, riding very low in the pocket because of the clip design. The assisted opening is very addictive and seems fool proof, though not as fast as my Kershaw knives. Can't go wrong with these knives.

I also have a Zytel handled Flash II. Have had it since March. IT's a really cool knife, works great cutting up veggies and meat, plus utility work. :)

I bought a Flash II with the Graphite anodized aluminum handles, and don't really like how thich the knife is. The blade opening is very addictive though.

I think I'm going to sell it and get something else.

MotoDave, Sorry you don't like the knife, I love mine and really like the thick handles, it's easier for me to hold than a thin one :D I also have one like yours, love the solid thump when the blade opens.

Robbie Roberson. ;)

When did the Flash II get thick handles? The handle on mine as thin as my Mini Autoclip, and that's much thinner then my X-42 AutoClip and PEII. If you want to see a Thick handle, check them out. :D

The blade actions is pretty adicting. A couple of my lady friends enjoy playing with it. :)

maybe its just the aluminum handled flash that is think.

Not having any luck with ebay, anyone want a Flash II Graphite anodized, its brand new

The Flash II is a knife I really wasn't sure about. Looking at it in the catalog was unmoving; to me it looked a little goofy, with strange shape and handle. Nevertheless on the good recommendations from others here at the forum, I ordered a PE Black handle Flash II. I must say the looks were decieving and my judgements were wholly off the mark. I love this knife! It is affordable, has good steel, is adequately fast, has a good lock up, and is super lightweight which is a huge plus in my book. I'll order three more (II and 2 Is) before the year is out. A solid worker!

Well at least there are enough options now with the different blade shapes (drop point, tanto, and rescue), coatings, and handle materials. I am still thinking about adding an aluminum handle II to my kydex II. But have to save money for the trident ;)

is this an issue? I am up in the air about with handle to go with?

I like the camo zytel handle, but I also want the best i can get, cause i love this knife. so i was also considering the graphite/aluminum handle.

any advice? please respond with anything if have seem both handles.

thanks! :)

No question the Graphite/Alu. is the best feeling in my hand when blade opens, seems to clunk when the zytel clicks :D and maybe slightly faster (maybe not). IMO, the G/A is the one to pick if you want the best.

But...............the zytel (camo) is what I carry every day around the house in my camo (big pocket) pants, light, fast and sharp.

Does this make it any easier ? :D

if anyone wants one, I have a 1/2 serrated Graphine Anodized aluminum Flash II that I'd like to sell. Its brand new, I have only played with it a few times. Shoot me an email if interested dcstorm@ucdavis.edu

thanks for the info, i decided on the camo handle. performance may be downgraded a little, but the light solid color of the graphite handle lost to the camo design in the end.

thanks a TON for the info.
bythe way, my SOG will be a Flash II, zytel camo handle with tanto tipped, TiNi coated, 1/2 serrated blade.

Wow ! your gonna love that knife, I looked at one sunday and started to buy it but I have so many now  .

No kidding, that is one nice looking knife, and you will love the blade shape and boy are they sharp.

Where exactly do you order a flash II with Tanto tipped? I haven't been able to find that style of blade on the flash for sale anywhere. Thanks
