Hi all,

I've just started getting interested in Tomahawks so please forgive my sounding like a total noob.

I've been looking around for a decent beginner tomahawk for camp splitting and occasional throwing with friends.
I came across the SOG Fusion Tomahawk on Amazon for $35+free shipping.

I like the synthetic handle but am unsure about the 420 steel head (mostly coming from my stance as a knife guy).

Overall would you say this is a good 'hawk?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Brass

I have one and I have no complaints.I hewed a log with it and the 420 steel held up great. If you feel like a great beater hawk have a look at the cold steel line.Good carbon steel heads and wood handles and fun to mod to boot.
But the sog is a nice hawk to get started with if that's what you want,go with it.

I have one and honestly it sucks... barely hacked away with it and the head is already lose, the binding is very weak, I'd never recommend this for any type of actual survival or camping use unless your making tiny tinder. Not impressed which is sad because I love SOG knives.

was that the first one? the one with the wood handle?

Sorry no this is the new one with the composite handle and weird attachment to the head. It's not a full tang design or even a handle through an eye. It's more of a look good design as far as I see, it's practicality is next to none from my experience.
