I thought I would come to the source for some knowledge.

Which knife would be better suited for heavy outdoor use out of the Gov-Tac, Trident 2 or Bowie 2? Heavy use would consist of daily camp chores from fire duty to shelter building and would be carried out in both inland wooded areas and coastal areas(salt water). I currently have blades from Busse,Scrap Yard, Ranger, Ontario, and Becker, but have always loved the blade shape and look of the SOG's, so it is time to show them some love.

Let me know if there is a better model that I did not list that fits the bill, but I would like to keep it under the $200.00 mark.

Thanks!

Check out the SEAL team or Tech Bowie. They should all hold up good but the leather washers on the Bowie would make me pick something synthetic. Especially if its going to be around water. If you like the tip of the Bowie I'd go with the Tech Bowie. I don't know much about the Gov-Tac or Trident so I can't comment on those.

I'd go with Gov tac or seal team I have them bolth, but don't forget to look at RATs RC-6 & RC-5 before you make up your mind.

I believe the Trident 2 and the Tech Bowie are pretty much the same knife with different handle materials. Trident 2 is micarta, Tech Bowie is kraton.

Good information!

I definitely think that synthetic would be better for the handle and I would probably favor Micarta, but I am hoping to find a local shop where I can put my hands on them before I make a decision.

Thanks
