Welcome to BF, Serrinon! Personally, I think you should take at look at a company called Fallkniven: http://www.fallkniven.com/ . I have their model F1, and can't say enough good things about it. There's nothing wrong with SOG, I just think of Fallkniven whenever I here the words "survival" and "knife" in the same sentence. Take a look. You might be surprised at what a value they offer.

The Fallkniven S1 is worth considering as well. Its a workhorse and with the zytel sheath it rides light and comfortably on the hip.
