SOG Government Help (the pommel screw specifically)

I just got a hold of my third SOG Government. I was very pleased with the way the blade looked, which flowed into a smooth, flawless guard, and then to the perfect kraton handle, down to the nice, round pommel with a WTF!?!??! I am not sure why this was not disclosed, but the screw on the pommel looked like someone tried to open it with a phillips screwdriver when its a flathead screw or they used too small of a flathead screwdriver. Its gouged pretty bad, however, with the right sized screwdriver, you could still get a grip (I think).

Now my few questions:

1. Is this screw held in with some kind of thread-lock? And if so, is it the easy to remove blue type or the place in a 400 degree oven red type? 400 degrees would melt the kraton I would guess and possibly screw up the blade temp.

2. I think if I get the screw off, I can smooth out most of the damage and give it a nice bevel on the sides. However, if I can't fix it, what are the chances of finding another screw without having to use a doner knife?

I am open to any suggestions. The crappy part here is the knife looks almost mint except for a few scrapes from the kydex sheath. I was hoping this would have been the shelf queen.
