SOG is Great (SOGwinder praise.)

Hello,

Just purchased a SOGwinder I. What a great knife. I love the POP you hear upon opening. It's also a very sturdy, thick knife with a comfortable handle.

I owned a Pentagon Elite and loved that also, although it's not as easy to carry in my pocket as the SOGwinder. That knife had the smoothest and quickest opening of all my folding knives.

I'm a little worried that the kraton will eventually peel off, as I've read it doing. I did not sign up for the warranty (and consequently threw my box away.)

Any ideas ... is the kraton handle sturdy/durable, as long as it doesn't get soaked? And can I still sign up for the warranty without a product #...? Thanks for your time.

If when it peals reglue down with good contact adhesive and your good again for a few solid years. Corse once it does come loose you might also want to consider replaceing with something else. Like a nice hardwood or micarta or any of a 100 different materials. I dont have them any more but i rehandled both sizes of the gerber gator in stabalized cherry

They looked incredible mirror polished blades that had been hand lapped first to smooth out any inperfections in the surface. Also redrilled the pivot hole and put in some nice sealed berrings. But goign off topic here so ill cut it short. But with any knife haveing the original handle get trashed is far from the end of the world.

Cool! It looks like you're getting more and more addicted to SOG, just like the rest of us! Welcome to the Club!

I've had my eye on the Mini X-ray for awhile, but haven't gotten around to buying one.
