I haven't noticed any posting about this knife, so I'll just let you guys judge for yourselves.

SOG Swedge.

I haven't found a picture of the opposite side. I'm gonna hazard a guess that it's chisel ground. They also have a few other designs, but none as clean as the Swedge. http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_store.html?ttl=SOG Swedges&srch=bwSKUdatarq=sogbh

I doubt I would ever come to purchase one of them, but if I did come into possession, I'd round off all the sharp corners on the handle.

I was looking at the big one there the other day. I'd like it better if there was straight with no "bow" in it and that front part of the spine, right before it starts going down to the tip , was leveleled out and rounded, a la Snody's designs.

$100 for AUS8????? They can kiss my ass

That's what I thought too - actually it's 118.95 plus shipping!

Kershaw Offset was one of the 1st (if not the only) production pieces to have multiple grinds, and metal injecting molding. Also it has a "double pump" asst. opening, and 3D machined handle. That's why the Offset was so much. That SOG hoestly doesn't even look like a knife to me, more of a weird uncomfortable cleaver. But, if it floats your boat, go for it!

In my experience, good 440C is superior to even the best AUS8.

440C has about 1% carbon, and AUS8 has about .70% carbon.
AUS8, in that critical aspect, is much more similar to 440B than to 440C.

careful, it all depends on heat treatment applied.

You can have the best heat treatment of AUS8 and it still sucks. Good HT on 440C is a very good steel, and often overlooked. You can sugarcoat a piece of shit, but at the end of the day it's still a POS. And at over $114 an expensive one at that.

I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but in the case of this beholder's eye that is a seriously ugly looking knife.
