Any good?

Seen a few for sale at really low prices...........and we all know what they say.

You get what you pay for!

Is this the case on this occasion or are they worth having???

You might want to be more specific in your request for information.

Which models are you looking at?

Primarily folders, seen a Flash 1 for about £20 ($40), which I thought was cheap.
Am I wrong?

If that is the Zytel handle, the price is about average.

The Flash I is a nice little knife. It has decent steel and it is pretty sturdy.

sog makes folders upwards of around $200, and they have their baseline models too like the Flash. i paid 200 for my vision back in 2003, only to loose the thing off the side of a river boat. so not only do you get what you pay for, you can loose what you pay for as well.

Just got a SOG Flash 1 in the mail today! :D

It's the FSA-7 on the box and a 2.5" blade. A well built knife but I found the handle to be small. It's difficult to hold and flick open without getting sliced. There seems to be nowhere to put your fingers while the blade is opening, which is does rather quickly. The auto assisted opening works great with the "SOG Assisted Technology" or SAT. The Flash 1 is 5 inches total, that’s 2.5" for both the handle and the blade. Makes for a good small pocketknife and perhaps I just need to get used to it. I wouldn’t recommend it for someone with large hands. Well built and I like SOG's in general. Here it is in this pic and you can compare the size to the other items.

SOG is a good company that sells quality stuff.

Customer service is great.

I own both folders, multi-tools, and one fixed and really can't find fault.

My one and only issue with SOG was the sheath that came with my X-42 feild knife. I knew that before purchase and it certainly didn't stop me from buying the knife.

Do your research and I'm sure you'll find alot of happy SOG customers out there.

I got the same knife, but I got a SOG kydex sheath for it (I didn't like that sheath either).

I've had quite a few SOG folders and sold all of them except for the
X Ray Vision 71, which I still really like.

As for their SOG's other folders, they use AUS 8 a lot.
I think they could be using a better steel.

BUT, having said that:

I like the Arc-Lock a lot, and I've found the fit and finish on their
knives to be very good. They're made in Seki Japan which is a big plus;
I've never seen any blade play, they lock up tight and are reasonably sharp
out of the box. And customer service is excellent.

If you buy them at the right price, their folders can be a very good value.

IMO.

sog from Washington State:
What kydex sheath fits the X-42 feild knife ?
I have the larger model.

Any help would be gerat.
