Sog Mini Aegis VS Benchmade 470-1 Emissary - BLADE PLAY

Ok, so both of these are known by some to have some blade play, Aegis probably more so, but recently picked up both NEW and sure enough the Benchmade has play and the SOG has NONE. Now I know, just a matter of time before the SOG loosens up and the benchmade can probably be snugged up some (no #6 torx handy).

Been carrying the mini all week, flipped it open like a million times, fruit, cardboard, plastic - still nice, no play whatsoever.

I didn't think I would like the Aegis, no liners, AUS8, but at two ounces it all but disappears in the pocket. Can open and close with one hand. Still shaving the hair on my arm no problem. Honestly, I'm liking this knife so far.

The 470 is very well made, very smooth silky action, crisp, snappy, fast and razor sharp. It was a bit pricey but can be found for less than the 170+ that is seen quite often.

So, don't get me wrong, I do prefer the Emissary but the SOG has surprised me right out of the gate!

Of course, we have to wait and see what happens in the long run.

Cheers, Ed
