I rarely ask for assistance in the forums. Usually I do a lot of research and try to make up my own mind but I haven't found a lot of info on small daggers. I'm interested in a small dagger that I can carry in the appendix position when not carrying a firearm. I've decided on a dagger because I've never owned one. I've narrowed down my search to the Sog Mini Pentagon or Gerber Guardian. I want to spend around $50. Is there another knife I should consider?

I've looked at the TDI in the past. I really want something with a longer blade. Thanks for the reply.

The SOG Mini pentagon is more durable in the tip and blade than the Guardian. It's got a superior guard design and can be stipled easily if you want some nice grip. Ditch the stock sheath.

Thanks for the info on the mini pentagon. It's hard to know what a knife is like when you can't handle them before purchase. What's wrong with the sheath? I have my own kydex and press so I can make my own sheath if I need to.

Mini Pentagon 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times over the Gerber. It's built and designed better, has a better sheath, and SOG's customer service is much easier to deal with than Gerber's.

I looked at the Guardian but never bought one. On the other hand, I do have a Mini Pentagon and am happy with it, considering that I'm not really a dagger fan in general. While I can think of more useful sheath designs, I don't think the factory sheath is actually bad.

Thanks for the replies. The Mini Pentagon is at the top of the list. Now the hunt begins for the best price.
