SOG Northwest Ranger

I have recently purchased one of these knives and I love it. It is to short in my opinion to be my primary knife, but I bought it as a back up knife any way so I don't care. One of the things I don't like about is the fact that it is partially serrated knife ( I don't know how you feel about them but I hate serrations). One thing I do like about the serrations on this knife is that they are nice and big so they are easy to sharpen.

I will try to post a picture of this knife once I figure out how

Does any one else have an opinion on this knife or sog in general?

Bought and used it for a year and it's well built. But for me it had no useful bushcraft/woodworking potential as well as butchering with the larger serrations. Would be great in full straight edge and really liked the feel of the handle.

its a good knife, the sheath is terrible but functional, as far as it goes in bushcraft i couldnt say, as i carry primarily for self defense, i am considering getting a custom kydex sheath made for it so that i have a fixed blade to edc. i got it really really sharp on the sharpmaker, but i am curious as to how the edge holds up in bushcrfat/survival.

agreed would be better without serrations

As far as the steel goes, unless something has changed these are AUS6. I've always thought this was one of the best looking of SOG's fixed blades.

That is a pretty cool looking knife...the blade material seem like if nothing else will be a hardy knife, I wish it came in a slightly smaller blade maybe 4 inches.
