I want to ask if any of you guys have bought the SOG Outline and what do you think about it? I wear a S&W tanto style Special Ops neck knife on duty. I had ordered an Outline with the intention of replacing it. I had originally carried a small Cold Steel palm knife but replaced it with the S&W. I saw the outline today and unlike most SOG knives it wasnt love at first sight. The sheath was really well made but the knife itself was not what I had expected. I'm not saying I dont like it but I just want some input from some other SOG fans. Anyone else using one?

Danny i purchased the outline also .Im a huge SOG product fan but must confess that this little knife was a disapointment to me. The design of the handle/bottle cap opener just doesnt fit my hand comfortably.I finally went to a hardware store and purchased a rubber wireing grommet and slipped into the hole of the handle to give it some grip.In case your wondering, a wireing grommet looks like a doughnut with a groove around its outside circumference.its slipped over any opening thats been drilled into metal to protect the sharp edges of the hole from cutting into the wire insulation they are used in the fire wall of your car for wireing. Anyway they come in different diameters.By doing this it gives a little beef & grip to the handle but it isnt a cure all. Mine still doesnt feel the way ide like it to.SOG needs to increase the length of the handle a bit or design some scales or something. Then ive got lg. hands also which doesnt help .Other than that i like the overall knife, blade is super sharp sheath is tight and the whole thing is almost weightless around the neck if worn that way. Im sure other formites will respond .

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your questions and comments. The Outline is a small knife for covert needs. Accordingly, it can't be perfect for all. Also, we've been able to keep the price point just low enough that it "matches the 'footprint' the knife makes." In other words, a longer handle and scales would easily double the price of the knife.

David, I've passed your comments onto Spencer for review and consideration. We do value comments and input.

If you guys have any other questions or comments for me, please let me know. :)

Thank you Ron for your response. Wasnt trying to flame ya just giving my imput. This is a nice little knife i love the blade ,that would be great to let Spence in on my idea. If it can be accomplished & is feasible in any way go for it;) tanks for your kind words David

David,

Your comments were (and are) well received. Constructive criticism is what makes any company (and their products) better. If people just thought a product "stunk," didn't buy it, and didn't tell the manufacturer, how would the manufacturer specifically know (besides low sales)?....thus address it?

Thanks and comment here anytime! :)

Well I went to my knife dealer today and took another long look at the Outline. I decided that the blade would make a great "kit knife". I keep several "survival kits" stowed in various back packs and on 4 wheel motorcycles. I'm actually going to buy a few Outlines. I think it will make a better kit knife then duty carry neck knife. I would like to see SOG continue their neck knife venture with a little larger "duty" palm/push type dagger? I would like to say that the sheath on the Outline was really well made. I think the knife is good for its intended purpose. Just took a second look.
