I have a SOG Paratool on the way to me from a recent trade here at BladeForums, and not that it really matters, but aside from just "stainless", what type of stainless steel is this "tool" made out of?

Also, any comments about the Paratool would be appreciated.

Thanks.:).

Hi Dann,

The ParaTool is made of all stainless steel (various grades in the 400 series) parts. Sorry I can't be more specific than this.

Ron,

Thanks for the reply. As far as what 400 series stainless steel it is, like I said before; "not that it really matters", so the fact that it's a SOG is good-enough for me.;).

Was there an "older" model of the Paratool, or just the new one? ...Sort of like there was an "older" model of the Tigershark, with different steel and a slightly different design (AUS-6, and the addition of the "saw-teeth" on the "newer" Tigersharks).

Hey Dann,

All our tools get "tweaked" in one way or another over the years. The most noticeable difference will distinguish the first 3-4 year production run. These will sport non-polished handles and plier head.

Cool!
I have one of the early ones. It must be worth a fortune.
I think I might retire early.;) ;)

Gord:D

Ron,

I received my Paratool today, and I have a few more questions, so I hope you see this post...

1. Does that little lanyard thingy (the piece [with the hole in it] that I guess is used to open [lift-out] the needle-nose pliers) supposed to swivel or does it always stay in the same direction?...It seems sort of strange that it sticks-up at the top (and in the way) when the tool is completly closed.

2. While the tool is closed, and turned so that the pliers are facing down towards the floor, the pliers fall out of its' recess. Is this normal?

3. Does a SOG (nylon) belt-pouch normally come with the Paratool? I didn't get one, but this one IS "used", so maybe it was "left behind" with its' original owner.

4. Last question...There is an "empty space" among the tools, so is there a wood-saw that I can get ahold of to add to this Paratool?

Thanks in-advance for your answers!.:).

Hi Dann,

1) Always outwardly fixed.

2) Normal.

3) Pouch comes standard.

4) Saw can be purchased as an accessory and installed.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Thank-You, Ron...You 'da MAN!..

BTW...This is ANOTHER reason why I like SOG so much; They (Ron) don't mind taking the time out of their BUSY schedules to take care of their customers and to answer our questions!.:).:).

I don't like jumping back in on this thread, BUT today, I received a SOG pouch and saw-blade from SOG that was mailed-out to me just YESTERDAY, and I'd like to say a public THANK-YOU to Ron, and the fine folks at SOG for their QUICK customer service!.:).

Did the "mailman" leave in a cloud of dust that was vaguely 300ZX shaped???

Unfortunately not...It was one of those white (with blue & red stripes) box-like US Postal Service vehicles, not driven by Ron, (and it left slowly).:).

I've had mine for 6 years or so and love it. I lost it once for a time and went into a panic. It's carried daily, and is a wonderful product.

Enjoy yours.
