This is a folder with SOG's proprietary Arc-Lock, which provides for the
smooth opening and closing of the knive.
It's in fact one of the smoothest opening blades I've handled.

The folder has only a slight up/down blade play, only detectable when applying some force.
Due to the lock construction, this blade play may decrease with time. The knife
seems to be so solidly built otherwise, so I think this slight play is normal.

The folder has one-handed opening by means of a thumb stud, that is ambidextrous.
The skeletonized clip is reversible for left hand users. There is enough room between the
stud and the handle, for the thumb to find a grip on the stud.

Here are some technical specs:
blade length=9.91cm(3.9")
handle length=14.48cm(5.7")
overall length unfolded=21.84cm(8.6")
knife weight=122g=(4.3 oz)

The blade is held tip-up. I prefer tip-down carry, but I can live with this discrepancy,
since the overall fit and finish of the knife is very good.

The blade came shaving sharp right out of the box. It is a semi serrated spear point,
with a reinforced "shark tooth" tip. The blade is made of AUS8A, Rc57-58.

The handle material is black glass and Kevlar-reinforced Zytel.

The blade shape and size makes it applicable for defense & utility chores

Conclusion:

I like this blade. The shape of the blade combined with the smoothness
of the opening mechanism and the ergonomic handle makes it a winner.
This knife reminds me of Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn Covert, which has
also a similar semi serrated spear point.
It is very good looking knife, and a candidate for my primary carry.
The only thing I think needs improvement is the clip. Make it a black
solid steel clip instead.
They should also make versions without serrations to suit all tastes.
Black coated blades could be a natural improvement too.
In all, a highly recommendable knife at an affordable price.

I intend to carry this knife a while, to see if it performs as expected,
which I think it will.
Next in my shopping list might be a SOG desert dagger S25.

The latest issue of "Tactical Knives" has an article on SOG Night Vision.
