I am very interested in the new SOG Pentagon folder, which is a bit cheaper than the Gerber, how do they compare? Is there anyone out there who has both of them? Is the Gerber worth the extra cash?

Please avoid alternative suggestions unless you really have to, I've kind of made my mind up..., I think

Both knives are excellent. I'm really going out on a limb here with some guesses here but I think the Covert is a little more expensive because a. It is uses ATS34 steel and b. it's made in the US instead of Japan like the SOG. That doesn't say one is better than the other, it's just a comment to try to explain the price difference. I think you'd be happy with either one.

Thanks Guys, your comments are appreciated. Looks like the Gerber is worth the extra wonga, unless of course somebody knows better...

One thing to consider is that the SOG Pentagon Elite II will be coming out this summer. You can see it at www.sogknives.com It is supposed to have the new Arc-lock which looks like it is very similar to Benchmade's Axis-lock.
If you don't want to wait, I'd go with the Gerber, I have one and it is often overlooked.
But that new Arc-Lock looks great. I'm a lefty and am looking forward to the new Vision with Arc-lock.

get the covert for 70 dollars at wholesalehunter.com I know I hate finding out later that there was a place that sells it cheaper.
