SOG Pentagon History Question...

A very simple one, actually.

Could anyone please tell me when the SOG Pentagon was first released?

Which year it was offered and roughly when the knives were first being shipped?

I'm also trying to locate a scan (or an original) of the old Cutlery Shoppe mailing that first introduced this knife.

CS used to send a neat folded mailing brochure with their latest updated knives between major catalog updates. IIRC, the first one I saw offering the Pentagon was in the summer.

Any info would be most appreciated. Thanks! :)
 
To get an exact year will be difficult (even from SOG), but I'm sure someone might have that info stashed away.

My educated guess is late 1980's (88-89?).

Typically, SOG introduces their knives around the first of the year at SHOT show, then gears up production of the knives. Depending on a ton of variables, they start shipping anywhere from about April through August.

You might want to contact Jeff (Cutlery Shoppe) directly for your brochure question. Also, Vince seems to have a lot of old catalogs sitting around.

I know this isn't a ton of help...but I hope if narrows things down for you.

It does narrow down at least the time of year for me. Thanks for the idea to contact Cutlery Shoppe direct, it's worth a shot! :thumbup:
