SOG Pentagon vs Cold Steel Counter Tac I

I would not recommend either of them but if I had to, it would be the SOG. I will NEVER buy a CS! SOG is not my thing, but they do stand up to a considerable amount of abuse for how cheap some of them feel.

Like you asked... My opinion.

Hi,

any opinion on these knives are welcome

Thanks in advance

Take a spin over to the SOG Forum, you can probably get some opnions over there. I have several SOG's and like the other name brands some models are better than others. SOG has the better customer service with regard to warranty imho if that has any bearing to the subject.

I have a SOG Mini Pentagon, and a CS Counter Tac II. Dont even think about the CS,unless you like a chisel grind. I dont.

Wich one do you suggest in this category ???

I would not suggest either, like I said. I do not know much about double edged fixed blades, but I know I would keep searching for 1. a better brand 2. better steel and 3. better materials.

to answer the question, would take some searching on my own, to find better blades. I know the ZT blade is nice, but is not as big as the two options.

thats all I can answer.

I would consider the Fallkniven lines. I had a Garm Fighter, as well as the WM1. The Garm (G1) was pretty sweet, but I like the single edge on the WM1 better. Also, for a "dagger" approach, I really like my Cold Steel Mini-Colluden(sp?)

VR/S in CT

I've got no experience with the SOG Pentagon but I have 3 other SOGs and would not hesitate to recommend them

CounterTac(CT) is more compact (and lighter) when compared to an SOG Pentagon.
And if you ask me by doing away with the traditional diamond section profile of the dagger; the CT's exhibits less production quality problems.
(Nothing worst than finding a less than symetrical blade spine with unequally ground faces on all four flat sides which tries to cosmetically merge into a perfect point).
I would suspect that the CT makes for less complaints in every department except steel type.

Can't tell you anything about the SOG, but the CT is rather intersting with it's slightly concave back and chisel grind, at least to me. They are light, feel very solid, and come scary sharp out o' the box. As far as steel, that's really personal preference. I'm actually fond of AUS-8, but your mileage may vary. :)
