I like the knife, but I'm hesitant in that I'm used to using Emerson knives and Spyderco's, so I do not know whether I'm going to be disapointed or not.

I'd like to hear the voice of the forum on this....the oracle LOL:D

Thanks

Chip i have had a penta 2 for about 7 months & like the quality. vg10 is excellent & arc lock works as well in left hand as the right. the penta is a stout tactical blade which leaves all around utility secondary. certainly strong & sharp enough for 2 or 4 legged problems.i have found the blade shape of the spec elite to be better for all around utility. for a strong tact usage the penta would excel.

I have the Spec Elite 1 and the blade shape and VG10 steel combine to make this a fantastic edc. Also, the arc-lock on this model is one of the smoothest I have experienced.

Do you guys have more than one SOG ? What is your overall opinion so far as sturdiness and reliability over the long term ?

chipdouglas i have a penta & a spec elite for 6 or 7 months great knives no problem. in fairness i have to comment that i beleive 2 years is the acid test on a product. of course some negations are immediately apparent on some products; barring that situation 2 years is really the only way a true recommendation can be tendered.

I have most of the Seki made folders. I have put the full size Vulcan (my edc) through some tough jobs, even twisting and prying cuts. I have had it for only 6 months but it is still rock solid with no blade play and the lock is still very smooth.

I had the Pentagon Elite II and thought it was a piece of garbage. The lock broke twice and couldn't get rid of the blade play. Ended up selling it.

I have a pentagon elite II it used to be my favorite knife, until I got a Benchmade. The handle is main problem with the pentagon/spec series it flexes in the middle and the cut out for the thumbstud is uncomfortable.
