Just received a blacked out version of the Sog Pillar today and color me impressed. The ergos are excellent, the S35Vn blade is perfectly ground and sharp, the cerakote on the blade is deep and even, the black linen micarta handle is beautifully done and unlike my other Sog fixed blades (Sog Seal FXs that came with abominable sheaths), this one came with an excellent kydex sheath. Even the Tek-Lok type attachment is first rate. I’m not sure I would pay the regular price for this as you are now getting into custom knife territory but it’s on sale and even has another store wide $10 discount available and free shipping. $109 out the door. For a beautifully crafted USA made S35Vn knife, this is just too good to pass up. I just turned around and bought another one. On sale at that big knife and gun store in Missouri. You can thank me later. This has been a public service announcement

Mines on my day pack. I added a zip tie to sheath for more retention and put a tek lok on it.

Think I’ll just stick the second one on my plate carrier and leave it there until the zombie apocalypse starts

Agreed... I have had my Pillar for about a year and it lives on my battle belt... Super tough knife...

I have tried and tried sooooooo many times to like SOG, and I just keep ending up disappointed. And don't even get me started about GSM......

Even IF this knife is good, it's too little too late. I will pass.

I came to SOG late and missed all the junk they were putting out 10 years ago. But when I bought their Seal XR folder and then a couple of Seal Fx fixed blades in the last few years (crappy sheaths notwithstanding), I was instantly impressed. Not sure what changed at Sog, maybe new designers or management? The build quality and materials are top notch now (at least the USA made ones in S35Vn) The Pillar is the best of the lot that I own. For $109, give it a shot and return it if you aren’t completely blown away. I sound like a Sog pusher 😆

Mine just arrived. After opening this thread I looked for the deal out of boredom, bought it because it looked cool and I have nothing remotely like it.

So thanks for the heads-up - this is one I'm going to take on the next camping trip and use the hell out of.

Glad to hear it. My second one arrives tomorrow. Been carrying it the last few days. Nothing but a few mundane tasks with mine but I really like this knife. Bought a dangler (size small) from Sagewood Gear for it (GREAT dangler for pancake kydex sheaths btw) and it carries beautifully

Are you having trouble with the kydex sheath dulling the blade? My stock kydex sheath dulls the blade.

Just tested my Pillar that has been in and out of the sheath many times. 145 BESS score which is literally razor sharp (still has factory edge) so the sheath is obviously not dulling the blade. Maybe you got a bad sheath? Might be worth contacting SOG to see if you can get a replacement79B0B7BF-3F83-4741-B89C-E2DA7B3C271C.jpeg

Still digging the Pillar? I'm looking at one or spending the extra cash on a MKC TF24.
