The PowerAssist is expected to ship in July. The PowerAssist is similar to the PowerLock but one of the handles contains two assisted opening blades. That'll make the blades much easier to access. On the PowerLock accessing the blades requires opening the pliers, opening the handle covers, opening the blade, replacing the handle cover, and closing the pliers.
The assisted opening blades do occupy one entire handle but the other handle has the standard tools which are present in the PowerLock. There's just less tools overall.
The handle cover is slightly different than the one on the PowerLock--it looks like they borrowed the design from the PowerPlay PT-540. The PowerPlay multi-tools are produced in collaboration with SOG. And the new improved SOG pliers are also very similar to the pliers on the PowerPlay tools.

Thank you for your help. I have just ordered one through Knifexx. But thay made no mention that its not available till after june 2008.
Could you tell me what type of blade is the second one , none of the photoes show it .

SOG 's multi-tool component chart indicates it'll have one plain edge and one serrated blade.

I haven't see any indication that they're available for order now. Some places list items before they are released. If it's actually in stock and shipping please let us know. There are a bunch of people here (including myself) that want one.
