SOG Power Assist

Been looking forward to seeing this one in action myself. The new piano lock system is turning me off though.

I tried it out at the Blade show. It's an interesting take on the OH concept and a great introduction of new technology to the multi-tool world. I plan to get one after the hit the secondary market in a year or two.

Morablades, why's the new lock system such a turn-off? Most people I've seen discuss this model have been excited about it.

I find that the piano lock system solves one problem but presents another. Sure it'll cut down on the clumping, but I like my sog tools because they are simple to maintain, take apart, and clean. I'm willing to deal with a little clumping in order to keep it gunk-free.

However, I'll probably still be picking on of these up around Christmas, I think;)

Whenever I closed the tools on my powerlock, they closed too far and didn't lock. This happened on a few that I have owned and handled in stores (the older model without the gear covers). It's no big deal, sometimes irritating, but I had to move the tool (or tools when they bunched) back to the medium like I was going to open them back up again so they would lock. I just don't see how this will be any different or better that the existing SOG locking system. In my opinion nothing beats the locking system that is on the Leatherman Supertool.
