Hey guys,

I just picked up a SOG Power Lock S60 at Walmart today for $35. It was the last one in stock. I’m pretty happy with the fit and finish, and the pliers are very smooth. However, the knife on this thing is 1/2 straight blade and 1/2 serrated (sad compared to my LM Waves two 3/8 inch longer blades). Also, the scissors are poorly designed, and don’t work very well (in comparison to the Wave). I know that the SOGs are designed so that you can replace some of the tools, and in the information included the price for "Most Tool Blades" as being $6.50. Would it be possible to switch the scissors for a full 3 inch straight blade (the blade on the Paratool), and would this require the use of extra washers or spacers? Has anyone tried this before, or know if it would be possible? Also, does anyone have any idea what kind of steel is used on these blades? Any information on the subject would be helpful. Thanks.

I've changed blades on a HD motortool which is made by SOG. There was already a spacer in one handle and removing this and the fully serrated blade meant I could fit the scissors (I assume the reverse can be done). I also got a half serrated blade but decided to leave the original plain blade in. The customer service is extremely good - I'm sure they'd include a spacer with a blade if you ask.

Just call up their customer service line and ask your questions. I changed out several of the tools on my PowerTool, including the blade, and they were very helpful.

I have a SOG powerlock, and thought it was the greatest thing until I had to use the pliers (which is the main reason I would buy a MULTIPLIER in the first place) . The pliers don't open wide at all. That means you can't use them for much. Try them in comparison to another tool (except Gerber Legend, which suffers the same fatal flaw), and you will find they are worthless except for very small nuts and bolts, etc.:thumbdn:

If I want to work on bolts I use my real tools. I hit the same Walmart clearance each year for deal on new pocket knives for myself and gifts. I bought one SOG and when I noticed the improvements over the para tool I had I went back and bought two more.

As far as holding up, It is pretty robust and I like being able to stock a few spare blades and fix it myself. I tried to get Leatherman to send me some blades, no dice . They did fix all the small screw driver blades I broke and replace saws and broken knife blades but it does take shipping it out, waiting and you never get back what you send anymore.

The compound leverage takes a bit of getting used to, but it is a nice tool.

DOES anyone want to sell me a Powerlock???
I´m from Europe and they are so hard to find !
THX a lot
