I just picked up a SOG PowerLock for $36.28. Don't ask where, the deal will be gone in a few minutes and I can't tell you anyway;)

I don't know much about SOG tools, but by doing a quick google search it looks like I got a pretty good deal and the few reviews that I read were good. And, ok, I lied. I didn't buy one...............I bought three! I think I have a problem.:o

I figure that they might be good gifts for my brothers-in-law. Did I get a good deal? Are they good tools? Thanks guys.

I say we flog this oaf for the atrocities he has committed here! Found a sale that I am unable to locate *shakes fist*. Grats on the sale :) Have one of em ship out to me? :D

And to your question about their quality. No first hand experience with them, but from what I've read they are pretty nice tools. The ability to change the tools by yourself is a pretty neat feature. Most gripes I've heard were the larger size and 'involved' deployment of the tools.

Nice score!

In my opinion, the compound leverage pliers/cutter are reason enough to own one (or three ;) )!

Do you know which model you're getting? There have been some changes to the design of the PowerLock. The newer PowerLocks ("PowerLock 2.0") have improved pliers/wirecutter, gear covers, and a new locking mechanism.

The new plier head on the PowerLock.

SOG made the change gradually and I've seen some PowerLocks that have some of the new features and lack others:

new gear covers and old plier head (I've also seen the opposite combination)

Thanks for the info guys.

I'm not sure if it's the old style or the new style. They just listed it as "with V-cutter". Either way, I'm sure I will be happy.

Fantastic deal:thumbup: I picked mine up at Lowes a few years back with a giftcard. I think the going rate was $60. I really like mine. It's a simple tool that knows that it is a tool. Nothin' fancy but built like a tank.

I've seen the cutters on the SOGs cut through steel packing strips that were holding bundles of 8ft wooden posts together. If that's not a reason to pick up a pair, I don't know what is..

That sort of price is about what used SOG's normally sell for. They are a very solid multi-tool and I think that you'll be pleased.

Powerlock is a good tool. Best pliers in a MultiTool IMO. I have an older version and the locking system is not the greatest. Also the gear teeth dig into your hand when using the screwdrivers with the tool closed. I'm guessing the newer version fixes these issues but don't have one to be sure. Either way that's a good price on a nice tool.

SOGs are well made, strongest pliers in the business, I luv that you can interchange/customize tools (which they sell!) easily.

I don't care for the covers and inside tool/not outside accessibility
(when closed).

but a quality tool and I'm glad I have mine, and they are improving
designs, I like that.

Mine arrived yesterday, and it has the new head, but without the gear covers.

For the price, I'm happy.

Cool! You got the improved pliers/cutter. That wire cutter is one of the best of any multi-tool that I have used.
