SOG PowerLock customization?

I just ordered my PowerLock an hour ago, and I've heard that the PowerLock is really easy to take apart and re-arrange the tools. Some people have said that you can also buy tools and add onto/replace the original ones. This sounds like a great idea, but I can't find any where to buy extra blades. I checked the SOG site but I couldn't find anything. Anyone have a web site that sells these blades?

E-mail SOG at Retail@sogknives.com or you could also call them at 888/sog-best (888 704-2378).

Here is an example of some of the available tools,

Socket adapter for universal hex drive, wrench kit, scissors, plain edge, fully serrated blade, serrated line cutter.

I believe (prices subject to change) most tools are about $6.50 to $7.95

hope this helps,

Thanks, too bad there isn't a place where I can actually see them, oh well, I can't wait till I get my SOG!

The serrated line cutter (the only one that is a little 'different') is a wavy-serrated blade with a gut/cutting hook on the inside. i.e. the wavy blade goes right up to the edge of the hook. Comes dull, but is easily sharpened.

They also have a robertson driver.

Note that some of these add-on tools are for the non-locking powerplier. The only difference is that you need to add a notch for the lock.. just line up another tool that has the lock and file the notch with a thin file (a Swiss-army knife file works great for this).

The bolts are hex bolts and easy to remove. Use _medium_ (blue) loctite to secure the bolts when done, then they can easily be changed again.

I also found that it takes some re-arranging... the longer thicker tools must be on the outsides of the handles, so they don't get in the pliers' way when closed. I also found that the aluminum 'wings' can have sharp corners.. fix these with your SAK file also...

I did not know about the wrench kit, can someone describe it? Thanks,

P.S. CALL SOG for replacements etc, email is a slow response...

Klattman,

The wrench kit is the tool used for removing the hex bolts on the powerlock nothing real fancy, they just say SOG on them.

Also you said that E-mail is a slow way to deal with it I dissagree. The saw on my powerlock was defective so I sent an E-mail to their warranty department, and within 2-3 days I had a new blade and I live on the east coast. Hows that for customer service.

oh.. I thought it (wrench kit) was another add-on. ;)

The email was slow for me and others, maybe they're doing better now. Either way, phone is nice because you can ask about different options...

Note: SOG sells a nylon sheath that is horizontal mount. Works very well.

Hey klattman, you don't by any chance remember how many $$ that nylon sheath costs do you?

I don't remember but probably in the neighborhood of 10-15.00. It was reasonable. It's not molded, just a square sheath that the PLock easily fits in. Since it is squarish, the corners are unused. It says SOG in big white letters, which I filled in with a black marker.
