Today I received the SOG PowerLock (and ParaTool) that I had traded my REKAT Carnivore for a couple days ago, and compared to my Leatherman Supertool, this PowerLock is MUCH better! This PowerLock is SMOOTH, and the tools appear to be very strong, and very well thought-out. I REALLY like the lock/un-lock lever, AND the way the "wings" work to make the handle ALOT more comfortable than the handle on the LM Supertool. Also, the scissors on the PowerLock is a very nice touch!

Sounds good, Dann!
Can you compare the screwdriver bits (Phillips and med. flat) of the two multi-tools? Those are the most important tools for me. I'm this close to ordering a Powerlock second...

I have both of them right here in-front of me, and the phillips on the LM is alittle longer than on the SOG, but the head of the SOG looks to be stronger. The med. flat of the SOG is actually part of the cap-lifter, like the SAKs, and has a nice bevel to it. The med. flat of the LM has a much longer bevel, and both look to have about the same head thickness. One major difference, tho, is that the tools of the SOG are MUCH easier to access (for me, anyway) without having to pull-out the rest of the tools to get to the screwdrivers, and the "wings" of the SOG PowerLock makes it a much more comfortable tool to use than the Leatherman. To choose between the two is really a "no-brainer"...The SOG PowerLock wins, in MY opinion. (Also, I just like the "looks", and "feel" of the SOG alot better.).

I did, and I'm SURE happy with mine, as I'm SURE that you will be too, with your SOG PowerLock!.:).

Hey Dann,

Great to hear these tools are going to work out just fine for ya! Go run 'em through the ringers! :D

Also, great to talk with you today. We'll have to do "coffee" sometime and "play knives" here at SOG when you get up in my neck of the woods (about a 1.5 hour drive for those of you wondering).

Take care, bud!

Yah, IF I drive about 82.54 MPH all the way, and don't hit ANY traffic.:D.:D...Actually, from Aberdeen to Lynnwood, driving at least CLOSE to the speed-limit, it's about a 2.2 hour drive...But I WILL make the trip one day soon...At least before Winter sets-in....BTW, I take 2 sugars, and just alittle cream in my coffee.:).

Ahhh, come on! 1.5 hours was quoted for my wife's car! I'd break it in under an hour in my Z-Ship! ;)

...Michelle's car is a ringer!!!;) Notice it says V6... That means it's only about 20 ponies shy of Ron's Z (Zed if you're Canadian:D )...

22 "ponies," but who's counting! :)

Scary thing is...her car can seriously give my car a run for its money. It is fast!

Ron, it's a great car! The scary thing is that the new ones (2003) now have 240 ponies!...

That's fast!!!

Guy I work with got a 2003 Z couple weeks ago and jeeez-o-man what a rocket!!!! Looks like is going fast even when its parked.

I concure with the SOG superiority to Leatherman. I made that determination about 8 years ago. Of course SOGman99 you could always use the 25 cent demonstration for any of those that dont believe.

You ask the non-beliver for a quarter, he hands it too you and with a couple casual squeezes of the powerlock's wirecutters you hand him back his quarter.....now in several different peices.

Sometimes I just cut slices along the edge of the quarter to make it a flower...sometimes I cut it into a little axe head and put it on a stick. For some reason I cant have this fun with a leatherman. :)

I'll have to try that sometime, but I think I'll charge $1 for him to watch me destroy his quarter, for the entertainment value.:D.:D.

Yeah I like the money cutting trick...
The Cutco salesman dude cut up some coins with their powershears (or whatever they are called?) I sure was impressed but i think that destroying currency is technically illegal:p

Thank Torque and Physics.
I've done a comparison in a knife store to compare the wave and then supertool 200, and they definately don't fair that well.
I find getting some of the tool on the PowerLock takes a bit more effort for me, but I think it's definately a better trade off with the one hand opening, extra power from the compound leverage, and the tool covers, and well I think you get what I mean now.
What leatherman? I feel like I could use the wirecutters on the PowerLock to dismantle the Wave ;) :D
