For those who have both or used both can you please give me a comparison of the two? I want to know which is better quality and which is more useful, also the sog can be flipped open with one hand? and the socket tool can use a regular adapter to use screwdriver bits right?

I should not be responding to this seeing as I don't own either but I do have a SOG Crossgrip and I can say that the compound leverage system that SOG uses works very well.

For that I like the Powerlock, however the Wave does have more tools on it. Go down to your local store and see which seems like the right fit for you. Most here though would say the Wave.

I have only the SOG Powerlock, which I purchased after having owned (still do) the SOG Power Plier. I do not have the Leatherman Wave, nor have I handled one.

That being said, I am very impressed by the SOG. The compound leverage works very well as stated in the precious post. I have owned several of the Leatherman type tools since their inception and have broken all but the Power Plier and PowerLock.

Another really good thing about the SOG is customer service. I wrote to them about a dissapointment with the wire cutters in the Powerlock. They replied, I sent it back, they fixed it to my specifications (they had modified the design a little from the Power Plier in order to satisfy a wider range of wire cutting ability). Now I have a tool which works great for what I need (BTW, they sent me a loaner while mine was being fixed).

I can't say enough about the SOG Powerlock. It's been the best working tool for me so far. I highly recommend it. If you are looking for an all in one tool (I also carry a couple of knives, so I don't need that particular feature), maybe the wave would be more adequate. But, for me, the SOG works very well.

My .02,
Ed

I don't any of the two, but I have played with both of them. I must say I agree with the guys above. I prefer the SOG powerlock over the wave. The gears or compound leverage system is great. The tool opens up like a butterfly knife so it enables fast and cool one hand opening.

Also, I'm not so sure about this one but I think the wave's plier tip is more narrow so its more of a needle nose plier whereas the SOG is thicker which means more durable and for tougher jobs.

However, it does come down to personal preference. The feel of the handles feel different. The tools come out differently. Thus, check it out some more.
