What are multi tool users thoughts on the SOG Powerlock multi tools. I've had Leatherman PSTs before (still have them) - didn't like the non-locking tools. A Gerber 600 was a terrible idea - I found it too agricultural though the pliers release was cool. I have a Leatherman Rebar which I like (locking tools), but I'm thinking of getting a SOG Powerlock.
I'd appreciate any observations or comments on the Powerlock.

It is not a bad tool. I would look for one with the hex bolt that hold it together. These were the USA made version. Later version have the button heads. I believe you can purchase replacement parts from the SOG website so you can customize your tool to your needs. I don’t know if you are looking to buy new or used. If used I would look it over first.

My opinion is that sog tools are over priced and sub-par. I've had a few and been disappointed every time. Customer service was nothing to brag about either. Unless it's in the 25 cent bin at a yard sale, I won't buy another sog.

On the other side of the coin, I also have had numerous multis from other brands as well. If Leatherman doesn't have any more models that work for you, have a look at the Victorinox Swisstool line.
Leatherman and Victorinox have always performed well in my experience.

I have one that is pretty old and I really like it. It has held up to a lot of abuse with no issues. I like the pliers on it the best.

I cannot say how good they are today, though.

I have one that O bought in 2003 I think. American made and a good solid tool. Contains pretty much a full pocket toolbox worth of tools.
