Congradulations again Robbie!! I saw that Kim Breed of Blade did a field test article on the Hunter Revolver. I notice that one comes with a leather sheath. Can you get that with the other model? Love leather could never get used to kydex.
Scott

Razorback-knives, (Scott) Thank you for the kind words, I know this sounds silly, but I knew nothing of this article until now. I heard there was going to be some more reviews, but never knew who was going to test or review. I will try to get a copy and read this, thanks for the heads up.
The Hunter Revolver is the only model that comes with a leather sheath, but the Seal Revolver and the Hunter Revolver will fit each others sheaths. At least mine fit each other well, with no difference that I could tell. I will try to find out if you could swap a leather for a Kydex. Not sure how this works, but I would imagine you could do this, I will get back to you on this. Thanks again for the notice, I will send you an email.

Razorback-knives, I searched the August issue of Blade magazine, no SOG Revolver article that I could find, was it another month ?

It may not be here in this area yet, or was it last month ?

Robbie Roberson ;)

Robbie,
It's in the September issue. I just got it in the mail a couple of days ago. May not have hit the newstand yet. I sent you an email.
Scott

Hey Robbie,
When you talk to Chris again, suggest they make the different sheaths optional, or at least available separately.
That leather sheath is one of the best designs around, and it oughta be buyable for the original Revolver for those who like a leather sheath but don't want the Hunter knife.
Denis

Dpris, I will mention this, he will also see this post, he has been very busy lately. I had just talked with him about the Blade article, I have not seen it yet :grumpy: , I hear it was a good review.

Now my question to you is where in the world have you been ? Bahamas ? We missed you many weeks ago, and I thought you may be on location taking photos or something work related. I too love the leather sheath, I would think it could be sold separately, not sure though.

Thanks for checking in with us, and how about letting us know where you are and what you are doing next time, we need to know these things. good to hear from you.

Hey Robbie, I'm gonna be using the Revolver this fall during deer season along with some of my new designed 1/8" stock D2 knives. My hunting buddy an I usually get 4 to 8 deer, so I will be doing some extensive testing. I'll let you know how it works out. It will be great for clearing shooting lanes and making blinds. Can't wait! By July 4 I start getting the itch for bow hunting. :D
Scott

Razorback-knives, Great ! We would like to hear about your experiences in the woods. The Revolver works great, and the first time you drop a tree about 5 or 6 inches around, to feed to your fire, in just a few seconds flat, you will love it.
I am a firm believer in being quiet in the woods, with this saw in your knife, you can be a lot quieter in the woods than if you had to chop a 5 or 6 inch tree down, I think this increases your odds.
Robbie Roberson ;)

P.S. It looks like you are going to have to make me a D2 blade for my extra carry in the woods, I will get with you on this.

Hi Robbie,
Just busy trying to catch up.
Rumor has it your Revolver may be appearing briefly in a custom Ruger .357 Magnum article coming out sometime in the next month or so.
I've got to get up in the hills hopefully this weekend to start scouting locations for a spot to build a couple small log cabins (actually just emergency shelters) with a Swamp Rat Desert Rat knife for another project. Gotta find some trees nobody wants.
Denis

(YOU's the wealthy industrialist knife designer who can afford the Bahamas, I still have to at least make people think I work for a living.)

DPris, good to hear from you, I figured you had been busy since nice weather. Gosh, you are going to do these cabins yourself ? Quite a task it sounds to me, but very nice for pictures.
I have not heard anything about the article/pic. you speak of. I am looking forward to reading the Blade article.
Wish I could go on vacation some day, it's been 25 years since we took one, guess were saving for it. :(
Check back in when you can and keep us posted on the cabins, we would love to hear more about this.

Robbie Roberson ;)

Oh, they'll be more brush & tarp lean-tos than cabins. It'll be a field test of the Desert Rat to see how well it holds up.
You are seriously overdue for a vacation. Take some time off from counting your knife royalties & GO SOMEWHERE!
Send postcards.
Denis

Ha Ha ! Yes indeed, I do need one, my wife needs one from me.... We may get around to it one of these days.

Sounds like something good for the Revolver to do, it really likes to cut limbs. :D

Good luck, and watch out for critters that crawl and walk up-right.

Let us know how it goes.
Robbie Roberson ;)

DPris,

can I invite myself along ?? I have a SOG Tigershark that might be of more use than I could ever be !!!

Cheers,

Carl

Hi Carl,
Were it not for the fact that this project was commissioned specifically for the Desert Rat, you'd be more than welcome, even if it'd be a fairly long drive here from California.
I think the knife will hold up far better than my arm will, but it's a "solo" field use deal. We'll see how far I get with the knife, a hundred feet of paracord, a 9X7 canvas tarp, absolutely no memory of any of the knots I learned in scouting, a diamond hone, and indigenous flora. And, my wife Bubbles to run the camera.
Tell you what- you build a couple lean-tos with your Tigershark & we'll swap photos, how's that?

Robbie,
I ALWAYS watch out for critters in the wild. Mostly. Met a rattler at three feet a week or so ago. Flushed a good-sized elk as I was hiking up a hillside to look at a crevice in the rock, while I was watching it run the rattler cheated & hid in a clump of sagebrush till I was about right on top of him. Six rattles, just a little guy & he was as interested in leaving as I was.

Denis

Man your really lucky, those snakes are really bad news, you better have a cell phone handy at all times, I hope you don't make a guest appearance on "Venum ER". :(

Stay safe, and keep us posted on your progress, I realize the knife stuff is probably hush, but you can tell us about your trip, and how you liked it.
Robbie Roberson ;)

Need to get me some snake boots, among other things.
40 years of bebopping around the desert and sagebrush, never came that close to one before. Usually they let you know they're there, this one didn't till I saw the movement.
Our cat used to bring home little non-poisonous snakes, I had several talks with him, think it was the "One of these days you're gonna run across a rattler, and HE'LL be taking YOU home!" that did it. He finally stopped.
Denis

DPris,

solo project, aye.... Have Fun !! and instead of lean-to's, I'll carve up a few steaks and roasts over this long 4th Of July weekend just now beginning.

as concerns rattlesnakes, my pal MadMatt was quietly fishing along the Kern River last summer. He was relaxing quietly on a sandy bank in the shade and happened to look to the left. There he saw a large-ish rattler likewise nonchalantly relaxing on that same sandy bank, about 5 feet away, enjoying the scenery. It had mysteriously and quite silently arrived from out of nowhere. MadMatt offered him (or her) some beer but the snake declined and quietly moved off after a bit, much to the joy of MadMatt's wildly racing heart.

Cheers,

Carl

Carl,
It'll be more work than fun, but should be interesting to see how the knife holds up.
Snakes are unpredictable, most rattlers are not aggressive around humans and try to avoid us unless we get too close, but you never know. Your friend was lucky, and came away with a fond memory of at least one fishing trip. "You shoulda seen the one that let ME get away! It was THIS long!!!!"
Happy 4th.
Denis
