I ran across an older version one of these:

SOG-Bowie-2-S1T-600x501.jpg

Anyone have any idea what the earlier version of this knife is worth these days? The one I've found is in a white box, (with two little boxes printed on the end flap so's to check which one is inside; the trident or the bowie).

Most noticeably, it has the 5th Special Forces insignia on the scabbard and blade. The blade is bright blue, the crossguard and pommel are brass with a blackened (purpleish) hue to them. The knife and scabbard are unused, and only shows some minor handling.

No serial #.

I'm talking about the modern SOG of course; not one issued/used in Nam....

thanks, m

The lowest I've seen one go for recently was $250 (it was one of the 1000 commemorative ones, though), and I've seen them listed on the 'bay for about $350 (I believe) recently.

Thanks Walter. However that "anniversary" one you speak of is the 20th ann. model yes? They are new. This knife was made from 1986 to 2005 marked as such. That one your talking about hasn't the 5th SS markings on it.

thanks for the comment though,
m

I think so, yes. I haven't noticed much appeal for the anniversary one other than as an SK-5 version, so I'd think they'd be comparable in price. I could be wrong, though:p

Hi m,

Like Walther mentioned, we have seen it range from $200 to over $300. It really depends on the condition on the knife itself and other factors. If you see one for sale grab it while you can.

Do note that the 20th Anniversary Bowie is made in Taiwan, unlike the S1 Bowie.
