I'm kind of a knife noob, and I'm sure you guys get this a lot but thanks for the information.

I live in Ohio, would S.A.T. be considered a switchblade (which is illegal)?

Can I carry one as long as it is visible(clip out of my pocket?)?

A good page with comprehensive, easy to read knife laws by state (too much to hope for?)?

Thanks!

I can not answer for you specific area, but under federal laws SOG S.A.T. is not considered a switch blade. I would guess that they are not considered switch blades, but check with a local cutlery shop and they should be able to give you a more sound answers than me.

A couple of things--

1. A cop looking at your AO knife might not know the law as well as you do.
2. Switchblades are defined by having their opening mechanism on the handle.
SAT knives, of course, do not. You've got to initiate movement by contacting the blade.

For some good knife law sites, you can check out:

and

It's worth keeping in mind that knife laws are in a constant state of change as are laws in general.
