Thanks very much for everyone's helpful advice!
I've narrowed my search down to these 2 knives.
I think the S42 is made of either 440A or AUS6. The S84 is made of the new (at least to me) BG-42 steel.
Do you guys think that the BG-42 is worth the price difference? It would cost me approx. $50. But amazon carries the S42 for $35 and I have a $30 gift certificate from the wife.
Which way would you guys go? I really like what I've read about BG-42, but will I notice enough of a difference over the S42 to justify the price difference?
Also, one interesting note, the SOG web page claims the S42 uses AUS6 (http://www.sogknives.com/outminac.htm), while the manual claims 440A on page 13. Anyone sure which it is?
Thanks very much everyone and have a good weekend! I've learned a ton just from reading old threads over the last few days.
