I hate it here in California, but I was wondering if the SOG knives SAT technology is legal to carry and buy in CA. I wanted to get a SOG Flash II, but I'm not too sure about weather or not it's legal to buy and carry. I did look over laws, but it's really confusing me. Where I get my knives (a local store) they said they could order a SOG Aegis. That knife has the same opening and closing mechanism as the SOG flash II. So, can anyone tell me if SOG SAT knives legal in CA?

Assisted Opening knives (by whatever name) are legal in California thanks to Betty Karnette.

"Switchblade knife" does not include a knife that opens with one hand utilizing thumb pressure applied solely to the blade of the knife or a thumb stud attached to the blade, provided that the knife has a detent or other mechanism that provides resistance that must be overcome in opening the blade, or that biases the blade back toward its closed position.

That being said, the boys in blue aren't always perfect in their interpretation of statute (no offense to our friends on this forum). A month or two ago, I heard about a fellow in CA who had been arrested for an SOG Trident. Naturally, the case was thrown out and this fellow is considering suing under 42 U.S.C. § 1983
