Hi All,

i just received my SE37 last week on Friday! i can't stop lookin' at it...ahaha.
anyway, i noticed that part of the blade seems to be sanded/grinded uneven. (Not the cutting edge/blade).

where the vertical line is, the distance between the vertical line and the tip of the knife...well, on one side, it's closer to the tip, than the other.

you can tell if looking from above view of the knife...i'm at work right now, and can't take any pics to show right now...

is this normal? defect? that's what i get for buying it on amazon? ahaha or all you SOG seal owners notice the same thing? i'm sure it's nothing to worry about...

just hope i got the real thing and not a fake.

Assuming the blade is ground by hand and not by a machine, a little unevenness is to be expected. Nobody's perfect.

you're right, but i'm a newb to the scene, so just would like to know. looks like it's almost 1/2 inch off. The knife looks great, though. happy with it. haven't used it for anything though...ahaha

i'm just hoping i didn't get duped buying from amazon...ahaha.

thanks for the reply! can anyone else chime in?

I wouldn't imagine that its a fake... Always a possibility but chances are very slim. This is a VERY common thing to find on any production knife. I have had lots and lots of production knives ranging from 20 to 400 bucks and if you look close enough almost all of their grinds are off a little bit. Don't let it worry you too much. I'd like to see some pics if you get the chance, 1/2 inch sounds like a big difference.

I had one...came very dull, was not nuts about the handle and the serrations for my use drove me nuts. This was more of a bad choice but myself for ordering the serrated version. But still the edge was really dull!!! Maybe this is me being a noob but I really think there are better options. At least this was my finding based on my use and needs. My use is far less combat so the blade design and serrations dont pose to be as useful as a straight blade....nor do I care for the notches on the top edge. But I did like some of the mount ability of the sheath and the secondary pocket. The plastic liner makes it difficult to put the blade back into the sheath without looking at it. Just IMHO. plain blade would have made me like this blade far better.

Honestly, I have noticed the same thing in knives from the lower-priced manufacturers, and in some cases, I took them to the belt sander and fixed them myself. Others, like Cold Steel, have never given me that problem. Thing is, with a $50 knife, I don't care about fixing it a bit, but I do care about that with a $100 knife. You see uneven grinding in a lot of knives, but if the company is going to charge a pile of money, they should give you a first-rate knife. I made a knive and I got it symmetrically ground. If I can do it the first time, professionals shouldn't have trouble.

haven't had time to get any new pics...i'll post 'em as soon as i can. just looking for reassurance i guess.

I'm happy with the knife...still a newb so i can't really rate on how sharp it is (only in my opinion and it's pretty darn sharp, took off some ruff skin easily).

1/2 inch may be exaggerating, but looks a lil more than 1/4" maybe 3/8"?? i can notice it if i'm looking from the top of the the knife/blade.
