Hi everyone,

I have got a Seal Pup recently and just wanted to say that it is simply an excellent and beautiful knife. Love it!! Just having a couple of questions regarding the blade, though. For the coating on the blade, if I happen to get some wear off from it due to normal wear and tear, can I send it back to SOG and have it sort of "repainted"? If so, how long would it take to get it done by the shop. Also for sharpening the knife, I am just wondering if anyone in here ever used the diamond coated stick from Buck on this knife, and how good is it from your opinion. (Let me check... ok its name is actually called "Buck Diamond Sharpener, #1325)I am thinking of getting that cuz it looks pretty compact. And do I need to use honing oil with that diamond sharpener? Thanks for the advice.

Not sure about whether SOG will recoat your Seal Pup, but I kinda doubt it. A medium or find diamond hone should be fine for sharpening. I've never heard of needing to use oil or water with a diamond hone, I think it should work fine dry. Anybody else?

I've always used DMT diamond stones with water for lubrication. Anyway that's what they recommended in the instructions.

But I've also tried it dry when I'm in the field. Works fine too.

Hope this helps.:)

I use diamonds dry, just brush off the metal dust when in builds up. I doubt SOG will recoat the blade, but you can always ask, they have a forum here and are pretty good with customer service from what I've seen.
